Our team includes doctors, nurses, pharmacists, students, pastors, and other volunteers. They are medical providers, they work in registration, security, pharmacy, they conduct routine eye exams, work as translators, in the video and photography department, and in the kitchen.

We are so blessed and grateful to have a dedicated group of volunteers on our team who go above and beyond of what is expected of them.

Board of Directors

      Juana E Hernandez, MD, FAAFP

President | Member of Board of Director and co-founder of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc.


Dr. Hernandez completed Bachelor in Biochemistry at SUNY Stony Brook, NY and medical studies at PUCMM in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Family Medicine residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and OB/GYN fellowship at Jonesboro, Arkansas in affiliation with University of Arkansas. After training, Dr. Hernandez provided primary care to a diverse group of patients in Sunset Park, Brooklyn NY where she also took the role of associate program director of the family medicine residency program. Dr. Hernandez is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Physician Sub Specialty. Her first medical mission was to Guatemala in 2004 after residency training. Since then, Dr. Hernandez, has been on several mission trips including Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

      Anastasia Giglio, RN, FNP

Vice President, Board of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc.

staceyMs. Giglio has been in the medical profession for over 15 years as a Registered Nurse in the New York area. Originally from Greece, she is currently working in the New York area as a Registered Nurse. Ms. Giglio has been on several successful and diverse medical missions around the world.


Digna Melendez, RN

Director, Board of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc.


Ms. Melendez was born and raised in Honduras. Ms. Melendez has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She is currently a Registered Nurse, practicing in the New York area. Ms. Melendez has been on several successful missions in the past 6 years.

Virgemina Shuaib

Secretary, Board of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc.


Ms. Shuaib, a native New Yorker from Puerto Rican descent. Ms. Shuaib is an Administrative Assistant in the NY area. With over 18 years’ experience in the field, she plays a vital role in organizing, planning and coordinating our medical mission trips. Ms. Shuaib has been on several successful Medical Missions.

Sherron Permashwar, Certified Public Accountant

Treasurer, Board of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc.

sherronSherron Permashwar is a Certified Public Accountant and has been in the accounting field for over 20 years. She opened her own firm, BMP Tax & Accounting, INC. in 2007. Prior to that Sherron spent 14 years in both corporate and public accounting industries. She worked as the Assistant Director of Accounting for the American Red Cross Westchester Chapter in New York and as a Senior Accountant for a South Florida CPA firm. Sherron is a graduate of the City University of New York Lehman College, she also attended Florida Atlantic University and is a Certified Internal Revenue Accepting Agent. Sherron serves on the Board of the Child Enrichment Center Preschool, Women of the Wellington Chamber, Student Advisory Council at the Royal Palm Beach High School and the Everglades Elementary School. In the past, she was the treasurer of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Nativity Lutheran Church, Young Professionals of Wellington and several Parent Teacher Organizations. Sherron enjoys spending time with her husband of twenty-one years and watching her two sons, Brandon and Mark play soccer in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Teaching her children about what it means to “Pay it Forward” is one of her ongoing goals in life.


Balichand Permashwar MD, DABFM, FAAFP, CAQ

Advisor to the Board of Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc

robinDr. Permashwar was born in Guyana and grew up Jamaica. Dr. Permashwar completed his  residency at SUNY Downstate, Brooklyn, NY and then went on to complete his Geriatrics fellowship at East Carolina University, NC.  Dr. Permashwar has been a Family Physician, practicing in North Carolina for XX years.  He has previously served as the Vice President for Medical Mission Called to Serve, Inc from 2013-2016. Dr. Permashwar has been on several successful missions to the Dominican Republic.
